Editing

Monolingual editing is the in-depth examination of any text in a single language. It is carried out by an editor who might not speak the foreign language at all and might not know the original (source) text, but who will review everything in the target text – terminology, grammar, syntax, register and style – for accuracy, consistency and cultural appropriateness, and suggest or make corrections where necessary. Editing may also involve rewriting or restructuring the content of the text. The aim of this reviewing and refining process is to obtain a text that flows naturally, fulfils the author’s intention, and, if translated, reads as if originally written in the target language.

I offer monolingual Bulgarian editing in my areas of specialisation – humanities, social sciences, and European Union affairs.
